Seeds of Evidence by Linda J White is a suspense readers treasure trove. Chincoteague, one of Virginia's most idyllic locations, is painted in intrigue when the body of a young boy washes up on the beach. Kit McGovern, an FBI agent on vacation, dives into the case which expands from the death of a boy into the tawdry world of human trafficking. All the while she is wrestling with her insecurities and questions about life and relationships and an unexpected attraction. She collides with a Washington DC cop David O'Connor who is seeking healing for his shoulder and his heart in the quietness of the sleepy island.
White creates convincing characters and a setting that you can see, hear, and smell. Chincoteaugue comes to life. Her knowledge of world of FBI agents is evident throughout the book. The issue of human trafficking is obviously something that White is passionate about and something readers should be more deeply aware. And the plot is constantly moving forward, unlike some other suspense novels I've read lately!
It's a story that's complex enough to keep you turning pages, but light enough to sweep you away while listening to the lapping of the waves at the beach.
